The holy journey – Char Dham Yatra

Char Dham Yatra is the most sacred journey of Hindus which consists of visiting the four major important pilgrimage sites located in the Himalayan Ranges. Hindus prepare for this sacred journey like believers of other religions who do for their pilgrimage tour. There are various holy sites for Hindus where they go to seek the blessings of the almighty. However, among the most important sites, there are four centers which altogether make Char Dham and the journey to these centers of god is called the Char Dham Yatra.
As we all know, the four centers of the yatra are Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. The temples at these places are sacred shrines habitations of various gods and goddesses which hold the utmost position among the Hindus’ life. People believe that the sacred journey brings along salvation and the pilgrims become free from the cycles of death and birth. This holy journey is actually the way towards spiritual learning in the adobe of god which is believed to be in existence since past thousands of years ago. Various Hindu scriptures have mentioned the power and usefulness of this sacred journey whose information is being shared from generation to generation.
Every Hindu believes that the journey to these temples which is covered under the religious Kedarnath Badrinath yatra fulfils their wishes and grants the blessing of the lord. Being located in the most tranquil environment, these sites also bring the nature’s most interesting and beautiful face which is otherwise impossible to see. The holy temple of Gangotri is located on the banks of River Bhagirathi on greater Himalayan ranges and hence, brings an exquisite view of nature in the sight of pilgrims who forget their miseries and grieves after arriving here.
On the other hand, Yamunotri is the source of River Yamuna and the holy seat of Goddess Yamuna in the Himalayas. The holy thermal spring is the major attraction at this place at Janki Chatti where the pilgrims cook rice to offer to the Devi. The goddess is considered the mother and is believed to nurture and develop the Indian civilization, and hence, is given immense importance in every Hindu’s life.
